FAQ
Answers to our most Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost?
Prices vary drastically from home to home and plan to plan. Some of the variables that determine price are the size of the home, the complexity of installation due to steep roof pitch or areas that are difficult to access, and the number of areas of the home in which the customer wishes to have lights installed. Understanding that each customer is different, a Brighthouse representative will provide you with a quote with different options to try and find what works best for your home and budget!
Is the company insured?
Brighthouse is committed to protecting its customers, employees and itself. The company carries a general liability insurance policy that provides coverage if/when damages occur to your property while we are on the job. Additionally, Brighthouse carries workers compensation coverage. This is important as it provides compensation for any one of our workers that may be injured while working at your home. Again, keeping everyone protected is a priority for us!
Who owns the lights?
Upon having the installation completed and paying for that service, you assume ownership of the lights, strands and clips for your home.
Why is the cost more for the first year I use Brighthouse?
The first season you use us the price is always going to be higher. This is mainly due to the fact that included in the price is your purchase of the light solution for your home. Meaning, you own the custom solution that Brighthouse has created specifically for your home. Additionally, the labor required to do the first installation is generally highest that first year. Having said that, we try to organize our effort in removing, labeling and storing your lights in a way that maximizes our efficiency going forward. This allows us to offer reduced prices for future installs so we can hopefully keep your business for years to come!
How long does installation take?
Every house is uniquely different. Installation time will vary depending on how many installers are working on your home, how many lights are installed, the complexity of installation due to steep roof pitch or areas that are difficult to access, and other factors. We do try and give customers a realistic idea on time needed for completion at the time of installation.
How much will these lights impact my electric bill?
This expense will obviously vary from home to home, but you can expect to pay roughly $10/month more for every 100 lights on your home if you leave them on all night. Many clients choose to run the lights for only 4 or 6 hours each night so they shut off quicker. This would reduce the cost to just $3-5/month more for every 100 lights. Most homes will have 100-400 feet of lights, so the cost is relatively insignificant for those that choose to just run the lights for part of the evening.
What happens if the lights stop working?
If there is a malfunction with your lights due to an equipment failure or installation error, Brighthouse will come out and fix it. It is not uncommon for bulbs to burn out or just get loosened up a bit too much; for this reason we have our proactive maintenance plan where we will come and regularly check in on your home.
What happens if the lights are destroyed/stolen?
While we will come and fix faulty equipment as mentioned above, when the lights are on your home and in your possession, you hold responsibility for anything that happens to them. Meaning, if bulbs, strands or clips are damaged due to adverse weather, a cat climbing on the roof that tears them down, a car driving over them in the driveway, or anything else beyond the control of Brighthouse then those repairs are done at your cost. During the off-season when we are storing the lights at our facility, we hold responsibility for anything that happens to the lights.
